There are a range of support services and charities dedicated to supporting the mental health of students. 

SilverCloud

SilverCloud is a free, online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) platform that can be accessed through the NHS for people with mild to moderate anxiety, depression, or stress. 

It offers self-guided, interactive programs delivered at your own pace over 12 weeks, with the option for fortnightly support from a qualified healthcare professional.

How to access SilverCloud

You may be able to do a self-signup for SilverCloud, or you may have to go through your GP or local Talking Therapies service.

England: Search for 'SilverCloud' on your local NHS Trust website to see if they provide a self-signup link. Otherwise you may need to be referred by your GP or through your local . 

Scotland: Scotland offers national access to SilverCloud via the . You may also be able to access SilverCloud from your local Trust's website or GP.

Wales: Wales offers national access to SilverCloud via the . You may also be able to access SilverCloud from your local Trust's website or GP.

Norther Ireland: SilverCloud is available in Northern Ireland. Speak to your GP or mental health service for a referral. 

What SilverCloud offers

  • Online CBT programmes: You can access a range of interactive programs to help manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress, sleep problems, and more. 
  • Self-paced learning: The platform allows you to complete the program modules at your own pace. 
  • Supportive feedback: You can receive fortnightly feedback and guidance from a qualified SilverCloud supporter to help you work through the program and apply the techniques. 
  • Flexibility and privacy: The online format allows you to access support discreetly from your home. 

Who it's for

  • Aged 16 and over: SilverCloud is for people aged 16 and above. 
  • Mild to moderate issues: It's suitable for people experiencing mild to moderate levels of anxiety, depression, or stress. 
  • Not receiving secondary care: You typically need to be registered with a GP and not be receiving secondary or tertiary mental health services (e.g., from a psychiatrist or psychologist).

Health & Her app

is a free, expert-backed wellness tool designed to support women through perimenopause and menopause. It helps users track symptoms, periods, and emotional triggers while offering personalised insights based on daily logs. 

The app includes evidence-based resources like pelvic floor training, guided sleep meditation, CBT exercises, and lifestyle tips to build healthy habits.
